Privacy Policy

Overview

Lingoora is a real-time voice translation app. This page explains what data the app handles, why, and how it's used. We built Lingoora to do one job — translate a conversation between two languages — and we try to collect no more than that job requires.

What Lingoora processes

• Microphone audio. When you tap the microphone (or use auto mode), Lingoora records your voice and sends that audio clip to our server, which forwards it to OpenAI's speech-to-text service to produce a text transcript. The audio itself is not stored after transcription completes.
• Translated text. The transcript is sent to OpenAI's language models to produce a translation, which is returned to your device.
• Spoken translations. If you have a build using cloud text-to-speech, the translated text is sent to OpenAI's text-to-speech service to generate an audio clip that's played back on your device.

These requests pass through our own backend (built on Supabase Edge Functions) purely to keep our API credentials off your device — that backend does not log or persist your audio or conversation content.

What stays on your device

Your conversation history, starred phrases, and app settings (like your chosen languages and voice preferences) are stored locally on your device. We don't operate a user account system, and we don't have a copy of your conversation history on our servers. If you delete the app, that history is gone.

Third-party services

Lingoora relies on the following third parties to function:

• OpenAI — speech-to-text, translation, and text-to-speech processing. Audio and text you send through Lingoora is subject to OpenAI's own privacy policy.
• Supabase — hosts the backend functions that relay requests to OpenAI. See Supabase's privacy policy.
• Apple — App Store, TestFlight, and any on-device speech features are subject to Apple's own privacy practices.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data.
• We don't show ads or use advertising trackers.
• We don't require an account, so we don't collect your name, email, or contacts unless you email us directly.

Permissions

Lingoora asks for microphone access to record your speech for translation. You can revoke this at any time in your device's Settings, though the app won't be able to translate speech without it.

Changes to this policy

If how Lingoora handles data changes meaningfully, we'll update this page and change the effective date above.
